The second-largest automaker in United States, Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F), is all set to start production of its best-selling vehicle, F-150 Truck. The new model features an aluminum intensive design and is likely to go on sale in December.
The production is said to start at the Dearborn, Michigan assembly plant of the automaker and will be available in North America starting next month. Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) announced 850 new hourly jobs at the facility with 500 jobs at Dearborn Truck, 300 at Dearborn Stamping, and 50 at Dearborn Diversified.
F-150 is the best selling automobile in the American market for last 32 years and forms a major share of the automaker’s worldwide pretax profit. The sale of F-150 would commence in the North American market and it would be available in the Middle East later in 2015. The company has announced its production to start at other facilities including Missouri and Claycomo during the first quarter of 2015. These two plants together would be able to manufacture up to 700,000 trucks every year.
The launch of F-150 is said to affect the quarterly revenue in the recent third quarter financial results. The new F-150 comes with an aluminum intensive design for better fuel efficiency and it will make the trucks 700 pounds lighter. Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) is undergoing a major transformation in terms of vehicle design, as the company is all set to launch 23 new or redesigned vehicles in near future.
Earlier last week, Ford launched three Lincoln dealerships in China considering the rising luxury car demand in the country. The automaker started three new dealerships in Shanghai, Beijing, and Hangzhou. The company announced plans for a full-size luxury sedan in 2016 for its Chinese customers. As of now, these dealerships would offer Lincoln MKC SUV and MKZ mid-size sedans.
