Can SAT scores really assess someone’s ability to attend college or is it just glorified IQ test, with a strong cultural bias? SAT critics have been vehement that the test doesn’t serve the purpose it proclaims and that it strongly favors kids from middle and upper class while putting the poorer kids in disadvantage. It would seem that the critics have been able to force some changes, as more and more colleges are dropping SAT requirements for admission.
Despite that, there are some states that are traditionally doing better on these tests than others. The bottom of the list has seen little if any, changes over the years, despite all the reforms educational authorities have been trying to implement.
