Apple Inc (AAPL) Unveils Beats Electronics Solo2 Wireless Headphones

Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) announced the release of Beats Electronics’ new Solo2 Wireless Headphones. Priced at $300, the new headset uses Bluetooth technology to connect to users’ audio devices from as far as 30 feet away. Earlier in June this year, Beats introduced the PowerBeats2 Wireless earphones for a price of $200.

Founded by producer Jimmy Iovine and rapper Dr.Dre (Andrew Young), Beats Electronics was acquired by Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) for $3 billion back in August this year. In an Apple Press Info page regarding the acquisition, Apple CEO Tim Cook said that music holds a special place at Apple, and the company kept investing in music and extraordinary teams to innovate on music products and services. The same press info noted Apple’s senior vice president of Internet Software and Services as saying that music is and will always be an important component of Apple’s DNA, and that the entry of Beats into the company will make Apple’s lineup in music so much the better.

Beats is particularly known for making fashionable headphones that cost as much as $450, although it can cost only as much as $14  to make. The acquisition of Beats by Apple is one among the company’s unique approaches to digital music. Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) paved the way for large scale music downloads business by introducing the iPod in back in 2001 and the iTunes store in 2003.On the other hand, Beats Electronics have revolutionized the headphones market, making headphones that cost hundreds of dollars one of the fastest growing segment in consumer electronics.

The Solo2 wireless headphones is the first product to be launched after the headphones maker officially became a part of Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL). The new headphones is a wireless version of the successful Solo2 models, which currently enjoys a large following in the headphones market worldwide, being noted both for its design and acoustics.
