English is considered to be a global language and is one of the six languages approved by united nations. Each language that is approved is celebrated on its respective day and for English, that day is 23rd April 2017. However, learning English is just not enough. It is always great to have a second language for numerous reasons. Firstly, it is every cool to know more languages than one. If you are applying to different universities then being bilingual can give you an edge. Also, you can travel to places without having any communication problems. Another benefit can be that you can learn about new culture and history by learning a new language. If you are a beginner then it is better to stay clear of Vietnamese for a while because it is a very difficult language to learn, especially if you are just an English speaker. Vietnamese has its roots from the Austro-Asiatic family of the languages. It is considered to have been branched from Mon-Khmer language. It used Latin alphabets and has major influence from Chinese.

Similarly, Japanese is another language that can be very hard to people who only speak English. The script consists of three different categories of alphabets namely Kanji, Katakana, and Hiragana. Kanji characters have Chinese origin whereas the Hiragana and Katakana are a modified version of Chinese characters. There is some influence from Spanish, English, Dutch, and Portuguese on the modern Japanese language. But still, it is a very difficult language to learn.

Another difficult language for English speakers to learn is Thai. It is originated from Tai-Kadai. It is very much similar to Chinese in the sense that each word depends on its pronunciation for its meaning.
